Do you know the correct way to put on and take off a face mask to protect yourself?
It is important to know how to put the mask on and take it off, otherwise you are at risk of contaminating yourself.

The Victorian Department of Health webpage also has instructions for how to make a mask that is washable and re-useable.

PUTTING ON A FACE MASK

Remove mask from box touching only the edge of ties/elastic of the mask, with coloured side of mask facing out.
• Secure elastic behind your ears or tie both ties at the back of your head
• Pinch the flexible band across the bridge of your nose
• Extend the mask down under your chin
NOTE: the mask should cover both your nose and mouth

REMOVING YOUR FACE MASK
DO NOT TOUCH the front of the mask
Remove the ties from around your ears or behind your head (if ties undo bottom tie first)
Place mask into bin (do not fold crush etc.)
Alcohol hand rub or wash your hands TIPS:
• You can wear the face mask for up to 4 hours
• Change the mask if it becomes damp
• Once you remove the mask dispose of immediately
• Do not re apply a used mask
• Staff not familiar with wearing a mask try and slow down your breathing
