People of all ages and backgrounds with an interest in shaping the future of local healthcare are being sought by WGHG.
A new Community Voices group aims to recruit committed volunteers to represent the views of patients and their relatives, service users, carers and the general public to provide feedback on the way health services are developed and delivered.

Newly appointed WGHG Consumer Engagement and Volunteers Coordinator, Rosemary Joiner, said consumer representatives were being sought for feedback across clinical services, aged care, community health, customer service and a range of other areas.

“We are keen to ensure the views of a diverse range of people living across Baw Baw Shire and the West Gippsland region are represented.”

“We are seeking to recruit people of all ages and backgrounds including people with disabilities, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people from the LGBTI community and other diverse groups. People don’t have to have a background in health, just an interest and passion in contributing to current and future health services in the region.”

Members of Community Voices will be expected to attend several meetings per year, work with staff and other consumer representatives and help guide the work being done by WGHG.

Warragul’s Wendy Wilkinson has been appointed as a Community Voice for WGHG’s Aged Care Committee.

Wendy said she was looking forward to contributing as a Community Voice to aged care services.

“I have a relative in residential aged care at Cooinda Lodge and visit regularly so it will wonderful to contribute from a user’s perspective.”

People with an interest in volunteering as a Community Voice to West Gippsland Healthcare Group should contact Rosemary Joiner, Consumer Engagement and Volunteers Coordinator, on 03 5624 0597 or rosemary.joiner@wghg.com.au
