The Annual Charity Golf day to raise money for West Gippsland Hospital and the Warragul & District Specialist School has raised $37,000.
The event, in its fifth year, is organised through a partnership between Bendigo Bank Community Bank branches of Drouin, Neerim, Trafalgar and Warragul branch and the Warragul Country Club.

This year’s Charity Golf Day attracted 32 teams of golfers. Following a buffet breakfast, the teams enjoyed perfect golfing weather, having fun with the four-person Ambrose format plus the novelty events included during the round. After lunch the drawing of the annual Charity Raffle and the auctions took place.

Warragul Country Club Fundraising Committee Chairperson, Heather Steenholdt, thanked the community for their wonderful support of the annual event.

“Our sincere thanks go to the hundreds of people who purchased raffle tickets and the many generous businesses and organisations who donated prizes for the raffle and the golf day auction.”

“The generosity of businesses this year was humbling and included some big-ticket items such as golf carts, golf packages, hi fi equipment, a dinner and tour of Parliament House, a holiday in Noosa and more,” Heather said.

A donation of $1,000 was also made by the Warragul Women’s Golf Committee.

“Money raised this year takes the total amount raised over five years to $130,000. That money goes directly back into our community,” Heather said.
West Gippsland Healthcare Group Board Chair, Christine Holland, and Principal of the Warragul & District Specialist School, Matthew Hyde, thanked the community and the fundraising committee.

Christine Holland said over the past five years the event had helped the hospital to purchase equipment, such as vital signs monitors for the medical unit, syringe drivers for palliative care patients, pressure mattresses for frail patients and a non-invasive ventilator for the Emergency Department.
It is the second year the Warragul & District Specialist School has been a donation recipient and will use the money to purchase specific therapy equipment to support the needs of students.
