The Gippsland Sporting and Classic Car Register recently donated a $4,251 cheque to Cooinda Lodge to purchase a portable lifting hoist.
Patient lifting devices are frequently used throughout hospitals and aged care residences allowing staff to safely manoeuver patients and residents from chairs and beds.

Acting nurse unit manager Marie Wallis said “It is wonderful to receive this donation from the Gippsland classic car club as lifting devices are so widely used throughout Cooinda that we’re always in need of new equipment to benefit our residents”.

Back in 1997 the West Gippsland Classic and Sports Car enthusiasts led by local orchardist Doug Armour, recognised the benefits of forming a local Car Club. They officially formed in 2011 and became the Gippsland Sporting and Classic Car Register. The group conducts monthly meetings, regular dinners and outings where local enthusiasts enjoy their vehicles together.
