Radio station Star FM’s annual ‘Give me 5 for Kids’ campaign has again delivered wonderful results with funds recently donated to the West Gippsland Hospital.
This year the promotion raised $13,500 with the proceeds equally shared between the Children’s Wards at the Latrobe Regional and West Gippsland Hospitals.

Nurse unit manager Helen Dunlop said “This cheque for $6,763 will allow us to purchase a Bilisoft Phototherapy blanket, used to treat jaundice in newborns. Newborn babies can at times be affected by jaundice, which makes their skin and eyes have a yellowish tinge. Being portable and lightweight, the Bilisoft phototherapy blanket enables infant-parent bonding whilst light therapy treatment takes place”.

Malinie Farchione from Star FM stated “The team at Star FM really enjoy the June-July period each year when our annual fundraising campaign takes place. Thanks to the support from our listeners and local businesses, we’re able to continue to give each year to our hospitals in Traralgon and Warragul”.

The ‘Give me 5 for Kids’ annual fundraising campaign began in 2003 and has been well supported each year by the wider community. To date, over $55,000 has been raised for the West Gippsland Hospital.
