Ten local men attended the course, learning about good nutrition and how to shop for healthy food on a budget. The ‘blokes’ cooked and shared their weekly lunches under the guidance of the WGHG community dietician and health promotion officer. The menus included asian stir fry, frittata, apple crumble, mexican hot pot potatoes and fruit parfait. All participants said they would highly recommend this course to others and that they are putting their skills and recipes into practise at home. The Blokes course culminated in a graduation barbeque on June 1st and Longwarry CFA members were invited to enjoy a BBQ lunch of vegie burgers, beef burgers, salads and dessert. For further information about future ‘Blokes in the Kitchen’ courses, talk to a member of the WGHG Health Promotion Team on 5624 3545.
