General Practitioner Discussion Forum - GSHS

GRICS held its second oncology-focussed discussion forum for General Practitioners at Gippsland Southern Health Service (GSHS) on 21st July 2016. The evening was well-attended by 17 health professionals from 6 different health services around the Leongatha region.

Representatives from GRICS provided presentations including an overview of GRICS and the oncology services available in Gippsland; an introduction to the Optimal Care Pathways for cancer; and case studies to prompt discussion between the panel members and audience. The evening was a great success, providing the opportunity for General Practitioners and Specialists to come together to discuss areas of opportunity for cancer services within the Gippsland region.

GRICS would like to extend a warm thank you to Vicki Farthing, Executive Director of Nursing, for chairing the evening. Also, thank you to Dr Lachlan McDowell, Dr Shafaet Jamil, and Dr Sachin Joshi for participating as panellists for the evening; to GSHS for providing the facility for the evening; and everyone else involved who made this event a success.

A third discussion forum for General Practitioners is planned for late October in the Warragul region. Stay tuned for further information.
